Twenty six first year HS FFA members attended the NE District Greenhand Fire Up today at Waverly Shell-Rock High School. Members learned about FFA opportunities, SAE possibilities, being our authentic selves, and the importance of priorities and communication.

Evan Martin had one catch for two yards. Dawson Rozek had one catch for 46 yards.
Grant Volesky had 11.5 total tackles with seven solo.
LeFebvere had one interception with a return of 78 yards for a touchdown. Brody Zimmerman had one kick return for 41 yards. Owen Van Ahsen had two returns for 53 yards. Elias Bieschke had one return for 53 yards.
Logan Upah had one punt return for nine yards. Timmerman had two returns for 25 yards.
Elijah Kupka had five kickoffs for 237 yards. He was 23 for 3 for points after touchdown. He had two punts. For 56 yards..
Benton hosts Solon (5-0) on Friday Oct. 4, in Van Horne, at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, Oct. 11, they host Grinnell (4-1) at 7:30 p.m. On Friday, Oct. 18, they travel to South Tama (0-5) at 7:30 p.m. They host Williamsburg (4-1) to close the regular season on Friday, Oct. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

Laura Junge had 19 assists. Mabry Sadler added 17 assists. The team was 42 of 132 for kills with 27 errors. Benton had 61 digs, led by Talulah Schroeder with 18. Anna Embretson added 15 and Haiden Moore had 13. The team was 71 of 79 for serves with 10 aces. Junge was 13 of 14. Embretson was 11 of 11 with three aces. Moore was 12 of 13. Schroeder was 15 of 18 with four aces. Callan Keiper was 9 of 10 with two aces. Sadler was 11 of 13 with one ace.

On Saturday, Benton FFA members participated in the Progressive Ag Safety Day held in Vinton at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Members taught sessions on semi and tractor safety, as well as safety around animals.
