2022 IPSWA/IFCA All-State Football
DES MOINES — The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association and the Iowa Football Coaches Association have announced their 2022 all-state football teams.
Dozens of sports writers and coaches from across the state met either in-person at Dowling Catholic High School or over Zoom to select this year’s teams.
Team captains were selected in each of the seven Iowa high school football classes. Captains must be a senior and selected to the first all-state team and are voted on by sports writers in each class.
The captains in each class were Cael Ortmann of Remsen St. Mary’s (8-man); Patrick Brown III of Grundy Center (Class A); Nolan Delong of Durant (Class 1A); Zach Lutmer of CLGLR (Class 2A); Aidan Hall of Harlan (Class 3A); Braylon Kammrad of Lewis Center (Class 4A); and Abu Sama of Southeast Polk (Class 5A).
The Iowa Print Sports Writers Association was founded in February 2018 to carry on the tradition of newspapers selecting all-state teams for Iowa high school sports.
Benton Defensive Lineman Brennen Blegen received second-team honors in Class 3A. He is a junior.
There will be a middle school student council meeting today during 5th block in Mrs. Jones’ classroom.
I am in my 30th year as an educator at Benton Community and in my first year as the Keystone Elementary Principal. I have been very fortunate to have been able to do a lot of different things in my career as a Bobcat. I taught special education, second grade, and sixth grade in the district. I coached football and wrestling for over 20 years. I also served as the activities director/7-12 assistant principal the last five years. I live in Atkins with my wife Tammy. My son Riley and daughter Peyton are both Benton Community graduates. The Benton Community school district is an amazing place to raise a family.

Kory is currently in his 16th year of teaching. He has spent all 16 years at Benton Community. He currently is in his first year as a 7th grade social studies after teaching it at the high school level the previous 15. Kory is going into his 12th season as the head coach of the varsity boys track and field team. He also coached football and basketball for several years. Kory currently lives in Atkins with his wife Megan, daughter Blaire (8) and sons Dane (6) and Conrad (2). They all love the Bobcat community!

After 2 meets the middle school team 5153 (R.OAR, Robots on a Rampage) is 5-5 and is ranked 13/30. The high school team 3788 ( CATS, Chaos

This is my 22nd year of teaching and my second year with Benton Community School District. I have the privilege to teach special education at Norway Intermediate and enjoy being a Benton Bobcat. Mr. Bergert, who also teaches at Norway, and I have three kids (two boys and a girl) who attend Benton as well. When we are not at school our family enjoys hiking, biking and enjoying nature.

The team as 18 of 49 for field goals, and 9 of 32 for three-pointers. The team had 27 rebounds. Jenna Twedt had 14 points. McKenna Kramer added 13 points. Twedt also had seven assists. Twedt and Emma Townsley had five steals each. Piper Nelson had eight rebounds. Twedt had four blocks. The team had eight turnovers. Benton was 9 of 11 for free throws.
