Last year marked the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, the world’s most popular tabletop role-playing game. To celebrate, Benton’s Dungeons and Dragons Club continues to offer students a place to dive into imaginative worlds, solve complex challenges, and embark on heroic adventures—all with the roll of a dice. With campaigns designed for both middle and high school students, the club meets twice a week to share stories, strategize, and have fun together.
D&D isn’t just about fantasy battles and mythical creatures—it’s also a powerful tool for building important life skills. Players must work together to overcome obstacles, which naturally encourages teamwork and collaboration. Whether leading a party through dangerous terrain, or negotiating peace with a rival faction, Benton students have the chance to practice leadership and creative problem-solving skills in every session.
Through the club, students build lifelong friendships and grow more confident in their communication skills. Every game is a shared storytelling experience where everyone's input matters, from the quiet strategist, to the bold improviser. As we celebrate D&D's 50-year legacy, it's clear that the magic of this game lives on at Benton. For many, especially those who may not always feel seen in traditional school spaces, Benton’s D&D Club offers “a place to belong.”
