Schools play a vital role in preparing students for their futures, but many young people graduate without a clear idea of the career paths available to them. To bridge the gap this year Benton Community has been seeking volunteers from various companies and businesses to come speak to our students about their professions. By providing various experiences, we are trying to provide valuable insights into different career fields, the skills required, and the paths to success, helping students make informed decisions about life after high school.

Benton Community provided our students with multiple opportunities earlier this year to hear guest speakers at Benton Community Middle and High School, but also at the Kirkwood Regional Center to talk about multiple career options such as fashion, water and wastewater treatment, automotive repair, physical therapy, and other healthcare fields just to name a few. Benton Community is also providing our students with additional opportunities in March to hear volunteers speak with our students about career options to help draw awareness of opportunities.

Many students may not be aware of career options beyond traditional paths, and hearing firsthand from professionals could open the door to new possibilities for students that didn’t know these possibilities existed. Whether you work in healthcare, technology, the trades, business, the arts, or any other field, your story could spark an interest for students at Benton Community.

We encourage professionals, business owners, and skilled workers to participate in this initiative. Your knowledge and guidance can motivate students to explore their passions, set goals, and take the next steps toward a fulfilling career. If you are interested in making a difference in a student’s future, consider volunteering to speak to our students at the Middle School and High School. Your time and expertise might be the key to inspiring the students at Benton Community.
