The vocal music department has had an exceptionally productive start to the school year. Both our high school and middle school choirs delivered successful fall concerts, showcasing the talents of our students. In late October, several students participated in the rigorous Iowa All-State Auditions, including Averie Gale, Kierstyn Wacek, Derrek Campbell, Brennen Roberts, Brady Gammill, Will Clausen, Gracin Becker, Joel Hacker, Evan Patterson, and Derek Frimml.

In November, the Benton Community Drama and Music Department staged its fall musical production of Willy Wonka, which had three well-attended performances over the second weekend of the month. Benton Community had 15 people participate in the WAMAC Vocal Festival and our entire department honored the veteran's at our annual assembly.

Additionally, two 9th-grade students, Joel Hacker and Gracin Becker, were selected to participate in the prestigious Iowa OPUS Honor Choir. They performed alongside 180 of the state’s top 9th-grade students at Iowa State University on November 21.

On December 7, the music department hosted its annual Madrigal Dinner to a sold-out audience. The high school student center was transformed into a grand King's Castle, making for an enchanting and festive holiday tradition.

Looking ahead, our show choirs are preparing for their competition season, with their first performance set for December 18 at Holiday JAVA. The highly anticipated Touch of Class competition will take place on Saturday, January 18, and planning for this major event has been underway for several months.
