Currently in Freshman English, students are deep in the throes of The Tragedy Romeo & Juliet. Students recently showed off their artistic talents while demonstrating their ability to analyze a character from the play by completing a body biography. The project asked the students to take a deeper look into a character from the tragedy and challenged them to visually represent the characters' inner-thoughts, virtues and vices, and their goals. Students worked together to create a cohesive interpretation of major characters from the play. Through this creative exploration of the characters, students were also able to gain a deeper understanding of the major themes present in the drama, including love, fate, and family involvement in the love life of teenagers. The project allowed students to work together and demonstrate their understanding using a creative outlet. They produced some truly amazing body biographies!
