Benton Community 3rd graders engage in several hands-on life science learning opportunities during the first semester. They explore the structures and functions of a seed and the skeletal system of animals and humans. Dissection of owl pellets and an extended study of live crayfish as classroom “roommates” will conclude our life science study. This learning is enhanced by several supplemental activities led by Benton County Naturalists, as well as partnerships with Iowa State Extension and Benton County FFA. It culminates in the spring with Ag Day at the Benton County Fairgrounds and our annual field trip to Rodgers Park.
