On Monday, April 17th, Benton MS/HS hosted their first annual Future Ready and Well Event. The event was based around the 8 pillars of wellness:  Emotional/Mental, Environmental, Financial, Intellectual, Vocational, Physical, Social, and Spiritual. We invited some area businesses, education options, and mental health professionals to lead sessions for our students. We had 23 sessions to offer our students to sign up for. Each student was able to participate in two sessions.

After our session time was over, all of our students got to listen to our keynote speaker, Chris Norton. Chris is an Iowa native, who suffered from a spinal cord injury while playing college football. He spoke about his injury and the path he took to recovery. Chris had a very valuable and powerful message about endurance and how to get through the tough situations life can throw you at times. It was clear by the response after, how much both adults and students appreciated the day and the message that Chris was able to deliver.
