Collaborating with other teachers not only provides learning opportunities for teachers themselves but also provides a better learning environment for students. This is done daily in Kindergarten at Keystone Elementary. My teaching partner and I co-plan weekly and adjust daily to best meet the needs of the students. This allows us to be able to move students between rooms for reading rotations and provide groupings which best meet the needs of the students.
This collaboration also takes place on a larger scale with Bobcat time. I am able to plan not only with my grade level but also with other grade levels to provide reading support for students across grade levels. This allows all students to have their needs met and challenge them where needed.
These are just a few areas where collaborations and co-planning takes place within the school day. The different opportunities help the teacher grow as learners by exposure to new ideas and ways of thinking. It also helps the students grow and helps create flexibility by engaging them in different learning environments and teaching styles.
