When I was younger, I always imagined myself in a world where anything was possible. Every day, students throughout our district get the opportunity to do the same thing through the world of the school library. In the library, we want to foster the love for reading, teach inquiry and skills for information literacy, and build the understanding of the importance of digital literacy.
Our libraries foster a love for reading by offering engaging materials and programs that inspire students to read for pleasure and knowledge. This emphasis on literacy helps develop critical reading and comprehension skills. This also supports the curriculum in the general education setting.
Teacher-librarians teach students how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively. These skills are crucial in an age of information, empowering students to navigate digital and print resources confidently.
