Bobbie Comisky, 6th Grade Math Teacher, Norway Intermediate
6th grade students have been working diligently towards mastery of their current math learning target: I can solve unit rate problems using pricing. Students have developed a foundational knowledge of the skills needed and are now reinforcing this skill with practice. In the math classroom, technology integration is a great tool to help students receive instant feedback on their work.
In this activity, when students type a correct answer for the given problem, the box turns green and part of a mystery picture appears. If students made a mistake, they are able to reevaluate their work, ask for help, and work through any misconceptions. This is a great resource for all 120 6th grade students to get real-time feedback during their math class time, making their practice more effective and engaging.
Collaboration is also a key component in the classroom. Students actively use this time to work through problems together, discuss strategies, share insights, and support one another. The collaborative environment creates a sense of community, where each student’s success is celebrated and students reach a deeper understanding by helping support each other.
