Paraprofessionals, also known as teacher associates, are integral members of the school community. They work alongside certified teachers to provide additional and attention to students, particularly those with special needs or learning challenges. Paraprofessionals serve as valuable allies to teachers, helping them manage classroom activities, prepare instructional materials, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with diverse needs. They offer one-on-one assistance to students who require extra support, reinforcing lessons, providing clarification, and offering encouragement.
In educational environments where students with disabilities are integrated with their peers, paraprofessionals play a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. They facilitate peer interactions, promote social skills development, and adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Beyond the classroom, paraprofessionals contribute to the overall functioning of the school by supervising lunchrooms and recess, monitoring hallways, and assisting with administrative tasks. They serve as trusted mentors and role models for students, offering guidance and support both inside and outside the classroom.
All of the students in our buildings are supported and have been impacted by a paraprofessional in some way throughout their school career at Benton Community. If you get the opportunity to meet any of our paraprofessionals thank them for their hard work and dedication to our system.
