When we think about the mental and emotional development of our students, it can be hard to know where to turn when we see students that are in need of support, skill development, and/or resources to help them succeed. Additionally, when service needs are identified- it can be hard to find access to these programs when you consider barriers like transporting to a clinic for an appointment and scheduling a midday recurring appointment balanced with other day to day obligations (work, school, childcare, etc.). In order to promote access to mental health care and resources, with these barriers in mind, Tanager has utilized school based services to place providers (like therapists and other professionals) within the school building. This allows opportunities to make evidence-based treatment available to students struggling with mental and behavioral challenges. Further, school based programming can support collaboration with school staff and administration, as well as sharing resources and prevention services within the community.
