Benton Community traveled to Xavier on Saturday, June 4, and picked up a non-conference win.
It was a good day at the plate as Benton had 11 hits. Emma Townsley was 1 for 4. Hope More was 1 for 3 with a double and one RBI. Ana Glawe was 1 for 4 with a double and three RBIs. Gabby McKee was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Hanna Greiner was 2 for 4 with one RBI. Sarah Gorkow was 2 for 4 with one RBI. Jaida Lyons was 2 for 2. They had one errors. Winning pitcher Jessa DeMoss threw for seven innings, allowed eight hits, four earned runs, three walks, hit one batter and struck out five.
Benton travels to Clear Creek Amana on Monday, June 6, plays at Mount Mercy against Marion on Wednesday, June 8, and plays Waverly-Shell Rock in a JV/V game at Waverly on Thursday, June 9.

The team had three errors. Solon had four errors. Zane Frese took the loss on the mound. He threw for five innings, allowed four hits, seven runs (three earned), walked four, hit two batters and struck out three. Colby Lennie threw for one inning, allowed one hit and one run.

Blake Daugherty was 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Benton had no errors. Lane Kaestner was the losing pitcher, allowing eight hits, five earned runs, walking two and striking out six. Thys threw for two innings, walked to and hit one batter. He struck out three.

Lennie threw for one out, allowing three hits, two earned runs, and hit two batters. Hunter Vargason threw for one inning, allowed two hits, three earned runs, walked two and struck out two. Ryan Finn threw for one inning, allowed three hits, one earned run, walked no one and struck out three.

Benton travels to Clear Creek Amana on Monday, June 6. They host Marion Thursday, June 9. Benton then hosts Vinton-Shellsburg for one game on Friday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m.
