This past summer students from Benton Community High School took a 10 day trip to Spain. Students were able to immerse themselves in the language and the culture. Trip goers experienced many different cities and historical sights and ended their trip by spending two days at a beautiful beach resort.
Being able to see students use the Spanish language and experience traveling to another country is one of the most rewarding parts of the job. Chaperone Larry Carlson had a wonderful experience, “I felt so lucky and blessed that I was able to go along and chaperone on this trip. Being able to take our students to a foreign country and experience that with them was awesome. I am really looking forward to the next trip!”
Students had many wonderful things to say about their experience. “The bullfighting stadium in Madrid was my favorite stop on the trip! We had a great tour guide and we got to see the entire stadium. The smell of blood wasn’t cool, though,” said senior Hailee Stanfield.
Senior Mario Talavera said, “Segovia was my favorite city because the sights there were the most interesting and beautiful. I loved being able to stay with a family and experience the Spanish culture and food. The monastery was very interesting and hearing the history behind these sights was such a cool experience that I will never forget.”
The next trip to Spain is anticipated to take place in the summer of 2025. We will hold an informational meeting in January for any interested participants!
