Atkins Elementary celebrated a holiday activity by partnering with a younger class to read a holiday story and create a bookmark. This Reading Buddy Program is implemented several times throughout the school year for students to read and interact with other classes. It allows older students to practice reading fluency and establishes confidence in our young readers. It also helps to build rapport among students and friendships across grades. Mrs. Lynch’s third-grade class partnered with Mrs. Neff’s AM and PM 3-4-year-old Preschool classes. The students truly enjoyed this opportunity to interact with one another and to learn about holidays around the world.
