First graders enjoy a weather unit in which they explore different types of weather, weather instruments, wind, air, clouds, water cycle, and much more. During this unit, students investigate using hands-on materials provided with FOSS Kits from Grant Wood AEA and additional teacher resources and experiments.
To wrap up our unit, we invited a meteorologist from KCRG TV-9 Weather Academy to share their knowledge with first graders. We had the pleasure of learning alongside Kaj O’Mara. During this presentation, students learned about clouds, identified weather instruments, acknowledged how to stay safe during different types of weather, observed the job of a meteorologist, and much more. Students truly enjoyed this interactive and engaging experience.
