This spring, AK through 3rd-grade students will take the stage for their spring program, Best Self, Best Work, Best World, showcasing their talents and the values taught through the school’s Character Strong program.

The program focuses on encouraging students to become their best selves, put forth their best work, and contribute to a better world. Through songs, lyrics, and movement, the students will highlight how these important values impact their daily lives and interactions with others.

The Character Strong program focuses on five key components: building self-awareness, practicing self-management, fostering social awareness, enhancing relationship skills, and encouraging responsible decision-making. These elements are supported by the development of 9 essential character traits:

  1. Courage

    – Facing challenges with bravery and confidence.

  2. Perseverance

    – Continuing to work hard, even when things get tough.

  3. Respect

    – Valuing others’ feelings, opinions, and belongings.

  4. Responsibility

    – Taking ownership of actions and their consequences.

  5. Honesty

    – Being truthful and trustworthy in all situations.

  6. Kindness

    – Demonstrating care and compassion toward others.

  7. Gratitude

    – Appreciating what you have and showing thanks.

  8. Cooperation

    - Working together to reach shared goals

  9. Creativity

    - Using your imagination to create something new or solve a problem.

These traits are integrated into our school day and highlighted during our Best Self, Best Work, Best World program. The students are not only learning to express themselves through music, but they’re also reinforcing critical character skills that will serve them for years to come.

Best Self, Best Work, Best World will be held at Atkins Elementary on Friday, April 4th and at Keystone Elementary on Friday, April 11th. We invite you to join us in celebrating the incredible progress these students have made this school year!
