Our students get so excited when the Benton County Naturalists come and visit us. They also have such fun and engaging lessons for our students. In 3rd grade we get to learn about bones, bison, and the water cycle. Then we get to end the year by spending a day at Roger’s Park.

We recently had our lesson on the bison. The Naturalists showed us how big a bison is by having students create the size of the bison by lining up. We also got to learn about how Native Americans used to use different parts of the bison. The Naturalist gave students items that we use like a serving spoon, a bowl, or even a ball. Then they held up replicas of things that Native Americans would have made from the bison. Our students loved guessing how those items compared to our items we used today. Even after the Naturalists left that day, the students were sharing the cool things they learned. Thank you Benton County Naturalists for providing these experiences for our students!
