This year I set a goal to do a science experiment every week. I have always had a passion for science and wanted to instill that excitement in my First Grade students. We started off the year by documenting the life cycle of the Monarch Caterpillar as it changed to a butterfly. We ended up releasing 10 butterflies that will migrate to Mexico over the winter.
Some of the other experiments that we have done include apple volcanoes, pumpkin sink or float, how many drops of water will a penny hold, we watched lima beans grow roots, one of the students favorites was gummy bear science. We used many different liquids and documented what happened to the gummy bears as they sat in that liquid for a week. I have loved watching the students' excitement and learning grow around the science field.
