Atkins Elementary students participated in the annual Fill the Pantry Drive in February. The purpose of the drive was to serve others in our community and to celebrate the 100th day of school. Our school-wide goal was to collect 1,900 items to donate to the Hygiene Closet at the Middle School/High School and the Helping Hands Food Pantry in Atkins. For three weeks, the students and families in our building poured in donations to help others within our community. This drive was tied to our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) core words caring and responsible, along with our district goal: caring and belonging. Since students met the goal, we celebrated with a school-wide pajama and stuffed animal day!
If you would like to find additional information on how to support the Hygiene Closet at the Middle School/High School, please contact Steph Timmerman or Cari Sahu. The Hygiene Closet is always in need of deodorant and trial sizes of mouthwash, and other tooth care items.
